Edit PDF

Annotate, add text, and insert shapes.

🔒 Everything runs in your browser. Files never leave your device.

You do not always need to convert a PDF to Word to change it. Correcting a date, initialling a clause, adding a note for a colleague, highlighting a paragraph or drawing an arrow to a figure are all edits that belong on the PDF itself.

Edit PDF gives you a direct annotation and content workspace: add text boxes in your choice of font and size, draw freehand, insert shapes and arrows, highlight passages, and place images or a signature — then save it all back into a normal PDF that opens anywhere.

How to use Edit PDF

  1. 1Upload the PDF and navigate to the page you want to change.
  2. 2Pick a tool: text, freehand pen, highlighter, shape, arrow or image.
  3. 3Click or drag on the page to place your edit, then adjust its position, size, colour and font.
  4. 4Repeat across as many pages as you need.
  5. 5Save and download the edited document.

Adding on top versus rewriting the original text

This tool adds new content on top of the page — which is exactly the right model for corrections, notes, form completion and markup. Reflowing an existing paragraph is a different job: convert to Word, edit there, and export back to PDF.

Covering old text properly

To replace a wrong figure, place an opaque white rectangle over it and add the new value on top. Be aware this is cosmetic — the original characters remain underneath and can be extracted. If the old value is sensitive, redact it instead.

Everything stays local

The editor renders and re-saves the document in your browser, so contracts and personal records never leave your device. That also means large documents depend on your device's memory rather than a queue.

Supported formats, limits and things to know

  • Existing paragraphs cannot be reflowed; use PDF to Word for structural rewriting.
  • Encrypted documents must be unlocked first.
  • Edits are flattened into the page on save and cannot be re-edited as objects afterwards.

Edit PDF — frequently asked questions

Can I edit the existing text in a PDF?

You can cover and replace it, but reflowing existing paragraphs requires converting to Word first with the PDF to Word tool.

How do I add text to a PDF?

Select the text tool, click where you want it, and type. You control font, size and colour.

Can I highlight passages?

Yes. The highlighter draws a translucent colour band over the text you drag across.

Is covering text with a white box safe for confidential information?

No. The original characters are still in the file underneath. Use Redact PDF, which permanently removes them.

Are my edits uploaded to a server?

No. Editing and saving both happen in your browser.
